Flat Roof Replacement · Alexandria, Virginia
A residential low-slope roof in Alexandria, Virginia, replaced with a torch-down system — documented from the worn original roof, through tear-off and deck repair, to the finished surface.
Before & After

The same roof before and after: the worn original low-slope surface, and the finished torch-down system with a new parapet cap.
How the Job Progressed
Before, during and after — the same roof at each stage of the replacement.

Before
The existing low-slope roof as we found it.

During
Stripped back to bare decking, exposing deteriorated boards.

During
Damaged sections of decking cut out and replaced.

During
The crew working across the roof during tear-off.

During
New membrane positioned against the brick parapet.

During
Modified-bitumen membrane torched down across the deck.

After
The finished roof, with a new white parapet cap.
What We Did
The original low-slope roof was stripped back to the bare deck. Deteriorated decking boards were cut out and replaced before any new material went down, and a torch-applied modified-bitumen membrane was then installed across the roof and carried up to the parapet edge.
Materials Used
Torch-applied modified-bitumen (torch-down) membrane.
